Chairman’s Reserve – Saint Lucia’s spectacular island-produced rum – is set to sponsor the next session of Steam Down Weekly at Peckham Levels. The renowned, weekly, live music event will next take place on 21st May, in a celebration of the group’s 8th birthday fuelled by Chairman’s Reserve.
Steam Down is an afro-punk jazz group and ‘music community’ built around its weekly improvised performances at Peckham Levels. Founder and saxophonist, Ahnansé, is London-born but Caribbean rooted, with Saint Lucian and wider influences from the region flooding into his music. Each Wednesday, the Round 360 at Peckham Levels is filled with avid fans enjoying the music, while the island’s other product, Bounty, is featured as the house pour. On the 21st, guests will have the chance to choose from a number of Chairman’s Reserve Spiced serves in a perfect partnership of provenance and Saint Lucian inspiration.
Chairman’s Reserve has also been a strong sponsor for the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, including this year’s edition running from 30th April to 11th May 2025. The partnership reflects the brand’s fusion of romance, jazz, and craftsmanship. Steam Down Weekly offers guests a similarly memorable experience right in the heart of South East London.
As described by The Guardian, Steam Down Weekly is, “The place to experience the raucous edge of London’s new jazz scene” and promises to be an unforgettable night for all. Doors open at 7.30pm and runs until late. Guests are asked to register on Eventbrite if they’re planning to attend. Better get in quick – the event has swathes of regular fans snapping up tickets.
