Black Cow is the only vodka made entirely from milk, which results in an exceptionally smooth vodka with a unique creamy character. Our Pure Milk Vodka™  is made at The Black Cow Distillery, located right in the heart of Childhay Manor organic farm, a 13th-century Manor set in the beautiful rolling countryside of West Dorset on the coast of South West England.​

​Dairy farmer Jason Barber who together with Paul Archard started Black Cow in 2012, recognised the potential in what was left over from the milk after the cheese making had finished. Inspired by tales of Mongolian conquests in more ways than one, the journey to producing the world’s smoothest vodka began.​

Process

The milk is separated into curds and whey. The curds are used to make cheese (our Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar amongst others) The whey is fermented into a milky beer using a special yeast which converts the milk sugars into alcohol, that beer is then distilled and treated to our very own blending process, before being finished and hand bottled on the farm.​

The whole milk = zero waste​

Black Cow is an innovative vodka created from what is left over in the milk after making cheese. A zero-waste combination. ​

What grows together goes together. Black Cow over ice served with chunks of barbers 1833 cheddar, Cheese from the curds and vodka from the whey of the same milk makes the perfect Black Cow paring.

With no added sugar or sweeteners, Black Cow strawberry vodka is flavoured naturally by the fruit. Locally sourced, leftover or misshapen English strawberries that would otherwise go to waste are pressed and infused in Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka for four days to create a fresh, rich vodka with a beautiful strawberry blush colour. Honeyed and slightly floral in taste, it’s a must-have all year round.

Black Cow Christmas Spirit is the latest in the Black Cow line-up of velvety smooth vodkas. The ultimate festive tipple, it contains all the ingredients of Christmas Pudding, steeped in Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka. Drink it neat over ice, topped with champagne, or mulled in hot cloudy apple juice.

The recipe for Christmas Spirit was created at Black Cows kitchen table using an assortment of winter fruits and spices – brown sugar, currants, figs, raisins, orange zest, lemon zest, cinnamon and vanilla – all macerated in Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka. As with all Black Cow products, they like to keep things simple. Granted there’s quite a few ingredients, but that’s the lot. There’s nothing artificial or unruly, simply the fruits and flavours of Christmas.
