THE STORY

In 2008, Balcones built their first distillery by hand and sought out the most excellent ingredients and barrels we could, aiming to create something new and authentic in their home of Waco, Texas.

In just a few short years, Balcones crafted spirits that were recognised by the world’s top critics and judges, including Whisky Magazine’s World Whiskies Awards, the San Francisco World Wine & Spirits Competition and many more.

Now, Balcones are homed in their distillery in downtown Waco, built inside a historic fireproof storage building. Featuring world-class copper pot stills built by the best artisans in Scotland, they’re bringing their craft to more whisky lovers than ever before.

BLUE CORN WHISKY

The first Texas whiskey on the market since Prohibition, Baby Blue is the winner of more than 25 awards, including two Double Gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits competition.

This whisky is made only from New Mexico blue corn and aged entirely in second-fill charred American oak.

NOSE
Melted butter, kettle corn, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon and nutmeg, fresh bread and honey, fresh ground coffee, baking chocolate.

TASTE
Tropical fruit, slightly apricot, brown sugar, cotton candy, sweet tea with lemon, smoked chilis.

FINISH
Medium long warming, late cinnamon/leather spice, mint and green peppercorns.

CLASSIC EDITION

The first single malt whisky distilled and sold in The Lone Star State, Texas Single Malt is the winner of more than 70 awards, including American Single Malt of the Year (Whisky Magazine) 2014, 2015, 2016.

Each batch of Texas Single Malt Whisky is a unique offering, made only from Scottish Golden Promise malted barley and aged in multiple casks.

NOSE
Ripe, buttered stone fruit, banana and pears; honey and rose mater with delicate citrus accents.

TASTE
Silky and full on the palate; lightly toasted bread with fresh butter and marmalade.

FINISH
Long finish with lingering toast and burnt sugar notes morphing into rich malt and wood flavours with counterbalancing acidity.

STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKY

This one-of-a-kind whisky is smoked with sun-baked Texas scrub oak using our own secret process. The result is a whisky full of fresh, youthful corn and light fruit notes married with a bold smokiness. Whether you like smoky whiskies, or just have a penchant for big, new flavors, Brimstone is sure to be a memorable pour. Aromas of masa, Texas campfire and powdered sugar backed by stone fruit, peppery spice, and mint. Bold yet balanced, Brimstone is yet another Texas original from Balcones.

A RYE MASH BILL CREATION

Our 100% Rye Mashbill began with Elbon Rye from Northwest Texas accompanied by crystal, chocolate and roasted rye.

Driven by constant curiosity, we distilled our Rye in copper pot stills, bringing new subtlety and perspective to our approach.

NOSE
Soft charred oak, black tea and cracked pepper open up to fruit and chocolate covered cherries.

TASTE
Creamy buttered toffee, building to peppery spice notes with hints of coffee and nuts.

FINISH
Peanut butter and dark chocolate.

A CURIOUS TWIST

Defying categorization both in its composition and its reception, Rumble is a curious twist on spirit styles from around the world. Crafted from fermented Texas wildflower honey, Mission figs and turbinado sugar, it is twice distilled in traditional copper pots then artfully matured in premium oak casks. The result is an elegant and distinctive spirit we have come to love dearly over the years. Rumble epitomizes the independent spirit of Balcones and continues to inspire us. NOSE
honey, fruit cocktail, honeysuckle, soft leather, floral musk, hint of mint/eucalyptus, tea tree oil, cinnamon redhots, some unripe stone fruit, dried nectarines, slight tobacco, simple syrup, jasmine, little vanilla.

TASTE
light fruit cocktail, subtle leather spice, dried fig/plum, honey, mild rosemary, sweet tea, mint, oak, kiwi, rye, grapefruit, slight anise.

FINISH
medium lingering finish, hint of spice, honey and leather spice fade, minty evaporation.
