Mangrove Global has expanded its World Whisky portfolio with the arrival of Israeli award-winning M&H (Milk & Honey) whisky. The M&H distillery, Israel’s first whisky distillery, has just received the title: World’s Best Single Malt Whisky for the Elements Sherry cask, in the world’s largest and most respected whisky competition – World Whiskies Awards 2023, held by Whisky Magazine.

The Elements Sherry Cask perfectly exemplifies the distillery’s commitment to excellence. It is made using the finest ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks and is matured in the hot climate of Tel Aviv. The team at the M&H distillery are committed to producing exceptional whiskies and they keep on pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

In 2013, Gal Kalkshtein, M&H CEO and Founder, established Israel’s first whisky distillery, under the expert guidance of the late Dr Jim Swan. The passionate and professional team is dedicated to crafting excellent single malt whiskies, perfected by the hot climate of Israel.

Chris Pollard, Mangrove Global, Head of Sales says:

Having the best whisky in the world, right now, join our portfolio, is something we are incredibly proud to shout about, and this partnership is just another step on our mission to bring together the best and most exciting premium spirits portfolio in the market.

The M&H distillery is the perfect example of exciting innovation leading to exceptional liquid happening across the world at the moment.  We firmly believe that M&H will continue to thrive in the coming years as the whisky drinker changes to a younger profile, looking for more experimental drams with unique flavour profiles and a real sense of place.

Utilising custom-made traditional copper pot stills, M&H’s story of vision, innovation and entrepreneurship is testament to their dedication. M&H’s Master Distiller Tomer Goren selects exceptional casks with outstanding flavour profiles, whilst exploring various maturation locations such as the Dead Sea, to showcase the magic of wood and terroir. This natural harmony is where the best flavours unite between oak and spirit, creating the distinct profile of the M&H Distillery that fans across the world have come to love.

With Israel’s geographical diversity embedded in the very fabric of M&H’s deep and complex whiskies, and a climate that expedites the ageing process in casks selected for imparting their unique terroir of the land, the brand now distributes to 40 countries worldwide.

Gal Kalkshtein, founder, and CEO of M&H distillery says:

I always dreamed of creating the best whisky in the world, and now we have received international recognition. We, at the M&H distillery, produce our whisky to the highest standards, and this with a creative mindset that tries to challenge the traditional industry is constantly leveraging the Israeli climate and temperament in the world. When we just started, people thought we were trying to do the impossible. Today, we put Israel on the map, and for us this is only the beginning. Thanks to our amazing team, we discovered that everything is possible.

We are very excited to start working with Mangrove Global, our new partner in the UK, and we look forward to sharing our future releases with whisky lovers in the UK,” says.

The meteoric rise in interest of world whisky sees the category go from strength to strength. The arrival of M&H into the Mangrove portfolio gives bars, restaurants and off-trade an enviable selection of interesting world leading brands.

The Mangrove Global portfolio will include the M&H Classic single malt whisky and The Elements Series, a trilogy of cask-matured single malts.  In addition to these whiskies, Mangrove will be distributing the incredibly rare and highly sought-after limited editions titled the M&H Apex Series. One of the Apex Series SKUs will initially include the Apex Dead Sea – the first ever single malt whisky aged in the lowest place on earth, the Dead Sea, maturing at approximately 423 metres below sea level. Mangrove will also distribute the crowd favourite Apex Pomegranate wine cask which is the first and only single malt in the world to be fully matured in pomegranate wine casks.

The full range of M&H in the UK can be purchased at Master of Malt.
